About 5% of Americans say they are atheists in surveys. Perhaps the number is higher in reality.
I speculate that these people either are deliberately denying evidence that God or Gods exist and adopting atheism as a kind of intellectual pleasure, or are pretending they are atheist. However there may be some of them who genuinely have never seen any evidence that God exists. Why?
I don't think I am ready to answer this question fully.
Let's just look at it. What benefit would human beings and God get from having "atheists" and "unbelievers" around?
For one thing, there may be really really annoying religious believers, who need to get punished. Perhaps a righteous atheist is likely to punish them.
Another thing, a kind of person may exist who "doesn't need to know" that God exists. In other words, it might be bad for us and him and God if he knew God existed! God is Loving, so consider that God is making unbelievers for a special purpose, as was written in Quran. To be bitter dissidents perhaps, or to avoid the creation of worse crimes like rape and murder.
For example an atheist may come from parents who are "going to hell forever" but he loves them. So for him it is better to not believe in God or know anything about God's existence because he would become a murderous person.
Similarly, a lot of Muslims don't really believe in God because they are told God is a monster, so they don't want to be monsters too, hence they are not believers.
I want to take some time now to pick apart the vocubularly of religion. I would like to use the primary (original) sources and the common modern epxressions of the world and propose a new terminology.
1. Loyal, Convicted person. This is the word the original Greek text of the New Testament uses to describe what are often termed simply and I would argue, foolishly, "the believers" in modern parlance. See the word used in the Bible which we perhaps naively translate as believer, implies that the person is "convinced of his God and Loyal to it." This contrasts with the "infidel" who is implied to be "disloyal" and even "a traitor." This is perhaps foolishly rendered in the translations as "unbeliever."
See it is foolish to mess with the words selection in the Bible because children can assume that since they "believe in God" they are a "believer!" This is ludicrous. Those children are not believers, if they don't pray, accept the truth in the scriptures and accept the existence of Angels, God, Prophets.... They aren't believers if they don't know GOD personally, the Quran goes as far as implying.
What I believe I have seen in this Western Society based on my own experience is that a few kids are raised to know God, to believe the scriptures, to believe in Angels and God, and Prophets. However most kids are simply told "believe in God" but not instructed in what God is and what Angels are, they might be told briefly, but they are denied the knowledge required to know God and talk to God. Also their parents don't teach them proper religious conduct, so they really don't know how to "know God!" Now looking at the news media they find often mentally ill and lying religious leaders, who lead them astray. In fact the kids who knew God, who worked for God as kids, who went and told the um, disloyal people, that they did not believe in God, or were not loyal to God (our language told them to say they don't believe in God, which is much more confusing than the Greek Language which imples that you are "not loyal to God". This stems from the Latin Vulgate Translation which replaced Greek Pistois with Ladin "Credentor" or somethign like that. Credentor had a more subtle meaning than pistois, pistois implied you would go to jail for God, pay him taxes, do what he said, et cetera, whereas credentor mean you would give God money and listen to what he said. The Latin Translation of the Bible thus changed the meaning of the Bible, from one of vitally needed service, to one of passive "faith"which is not real. This passive faith was further worsened by the English Translation, which went as far to say that you would "accept God and his statements as true" but removed the Latin implication of giving money, and this was further from the Greek meaning which implied you would do what he said and go to jail for him and die for him. I note the Roman Empire fell, shortly after it released the Latin Translation, and that Revelations warned that the apocalypse would be visited on those who changed the Bible. The German Destruction of the Latin Roman Empire was viewed by the educated commentators of the time, as the "wrath of God" they recognized the Latin translation was an abomination I would argue, and that the Latin Roman Empire was fated to be destroyed by God, and that the Civil Wars and German Invasion were part of the "wrath of God and apocalypse. The collapse of the Roman Empire was met by a global crisis, in fact the wrath of God was so profound perhaps on the Earth that a global calamity was sent. The people who were educated in Greek and Latin and Religion knew that they had changed the Bible, and that the Church was likely deliberately defying the Lord, but they couldn't suceed in doing anything about it. Just imagine those Hell"s Angels and Illuminati spies everywhere constantly trying to kill the righteous preachers and attempting to destroy their families, and trying to kill 10 of their friends and family for everyone of the hell's angels and Illuminati they killed.)

Not only did they desire nuclear destruction of their own society, they wished to exterminate more than half the human population perhaps. The disloyal, treacherous leaders (now both Hilary and Trump have been accused of TREASON and much evidence was provided for both of them.) These leaders allegedly want to destroy the world of much of it, and they are willingly leading their own empires into civil war and self immolation. Hmm. They refuse to speak of peace and love between all human beings, and won't organize the children to be loyal people of Yahweh who are organized in a secret and private self defense force. No they won't do that.
What do they do instead? Well what happens instead? In fact, the situation right now is like the opposite of that. The law enforcement is destroyed, the children are left to be abused, the people who speak out and try to stop the abuse who are not rich terrorist slave traffickers are destroyed, or attempted to be destroyed, people who know Yahweh's are deemed to be insane, people who do his will are deemed criminals, monsters even. Yes if they play their cards right they can get ahead, but basically they have no choice but to pretend to identify with the insane terrorist elite.
I mean my elite seems to be saying I am insane criminal, btu they like me for now, perhaps because I make it worse by talking to them about who is really really bad, while meanwhile allegedly being a greatly effective serial killer and terrorist who wants to be billions rich, and serves his country and likes the leaders.

I would argue, that what the God tells the righteous to is to educate the Mumins, miseducate the demonic nutcases, and then we basically have to keep the Demonic nutcases under hard control.

Look I don't want to risk heresy here, but the Quran, Islamic scholarship mentioning the order of entering heaven.... and the order of abrogation of the verses. Then it was "The believers and the righteous." A Lord Prophet comes and invites people to God's service, now at first the submitters will be taken in, but then, later on , they are told to believe.
